CCRES Algae Astaxanthin
Astaxanthin’s ability to scavenge free radicals in your body* is up to…
550 times more powerful than vitamin E
65 times more powerful than vitamin C
54 times more powerful than beta-carotene
5 times more powerful than lutein

It does this by quenching a molecule called singlet oxygen – a harmful reactive oxygen species formed through normal biological processes occurring in your body.* Singlet oxygen possesses a high amount of excess energy that must be released to keep it from damaging other cells.

Astaxanthin absorbs this energy and dissipates it as heat, thereby returning the singlet oxygen to a grounded state.*
There’s another way, too, that astaxanthin helps to protect cells, organs and tissues against oxidative damage from free radicals.*

It traps free radicals at both ends of the molecule.* Once captured, the potentially harmful free radicals pass into cellular fluids where they become neutralized by vitamin C. In this way, astaxanthin is sometimes considered a ‘booster’ for other antioxidants like vitamins A, C and E.*
What’s more, astaxanthin can’t act as a potentially detrimental “pro-oxidant” like some of the other carotenoids such as beta-carotene, lycopene, and zeaxanthin.

Have you tried it
This fat-soluble carotenoid used in Asian cooking. It’s also produced by the algae Haematococcus and accumulates in the muscles of salmon, shrimp, trout, and other pink seafood when they eat this algae, which is what gives them their pink hue. Astaxanthin also boosts the functioning of your immune system by increasing the number and activity of T cells and macrophages, two kinds of protective cells that fight infection and cancer.
I personally think that astaxanthin is one of the greatest super nutrients around. I use it as part of my daily Optimum Health regime. Thanks for posting all this information.
We have a new type of photobioreactor, called Alga Proliferator. They can help you to increase your yield. Please take a look at http://qizhonglabs.com/main/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=55_1&products_id=2 for more info.
Thanks Qi Zhong, they are perfect tools to conduct small scale microalgae cultivation in a lab for research purposes or at home and in offices to cut down carbon footprint.
